TNA Impact returns tonight at 11 PM on SpikeTV. The show will feature The Naturals vs. America's Most Wanted, Petey Williams vs. Sonjay Dutt vs. Frankie Kazarian vs Jay Lethal vs. Alex Shelley, a Jim Cornette "company meeting" and the continuation of the Jeff Jarrett/Scott Steiner vs. Sting/Christian Cage Hard Justice PPV match storyline.

There's nothing new on the SpikeTV expansion front, although the feeling internally is that at some point, the company will likely get more television time. There's no timetable for when things will happen, but there have been discussions of what it would take from a logistical and financial end. My feeling is that if the company goes to two hours, they would be way better off starting weekly tapings at that point to try and help keep their buzz going. Taping every other week, there is really no sense of drama for a lot of fans to see what happens on TV, although I am sure there is an audience that watches the shows without being spoiled.

In my opinion, TNA is in dire, dire need of that expansion. Impact in its current form is so rushed and one dimensional from a character development end due to lack of time and the company is, without a doubt, starting to suffer because of it, in my opinion. From a fan point of view, there is absolutely a loss of TNA momentum right now. Some of it is ECW, which has been a big success from a TV standpoint, stealing the TNA thunder. Internally though, TNA has so many characters that have their momentum stopped and started, which only breeds apathy because the fans won't get behind personas that don't show upward mobility. They want to get behind characters they believe can go all the way. Samoa Joe, Team 3D, and Ron Killings come to mind immediately as talented performers that fall into the frustrated mentality. 3D were chasing the tag belts, got sidetracked in a few feuds and are now taking time off. Joe was the hottest guy in the company and suddenly he's not involved in any of the issues that were built around him (loss of X-title, chasing World title, Scott Steiner, etc.) Killings has been a major victim of being pushed, then cast aside, then being pushed again, only to be cast aside again. Fans were really behind him in his segments with LAX, but after one PPV match, LAX is off chasing the tag straps and Killings is again out in the cold. It's not just those characters. Rhino has just started to regain his momentum. Christian Cage is fighting to regain his. The creative team is an uneviable position of trying to get everything over with just one hour of TV and build the TNA name. Their backs are against a wall and they just overtaxed. I think a lot of fans take for granted that in many ways, the company is still in its infancy, but by the same token, I can't think of a time since the launch of the three hour PPV events where there has been less of a buzz and interest in TNA. There were even "F*** TNA" chants at the Hammerstein Ballroom ECW taping this week, which is downright frightening when you would assume that diehard fan base would be the most likely to support an alternative product. Those are fans who are going to drop their $35 a month to see Samoa Joe on PPV. You don't want to lose them. I'm not saying all is doom and gloom on the TNA front, but I do think the company is at a very important crossroads right now and it's going to be interesting to see how they envolve in the next 3-6 months.

Former WWE star Matt Morgan was backstage at the Impact taping on Tuesday with Jim Cornette. There's been talk of the company bringing him in for awhile but they never seemed to pull the trigger. Cornette has openly talked about WWE missing the boat with Morgan, who's been working for HUSTLE in Japan, so I'm sure he's pushed TNA on using him. No word on if Morgan's coming in.

The 10/22 Bound for Glory PPV tickets go on sale this Saturday 8/5.

To clarify some rumors I've been asked about Jake Roberts isn't coming in. Scott D'Amore is still with the company, although he has no TV role at the moment and in all reality, needs a few months off to freshen his character up as well as differentiate the former Team Canada guys from their past storylines. Senshi is signed to TNA.

There's been a lot of talk in recent weeks about TNA moving forward with some international deals and possibly touring in China and India down the line. There's a lot of excitement internally within the company between the deals, the potential of more time on SpikeTV, and the Plymouth, Michigan PPV going on sale this weekend.

Former WCW star Kid Romeo was backstage at the Impact taping earlier this week pitching the idea of coming in doing an exterminator gimmick. He's come by in the past but thus far hasn't been able to sell the company on the idea.

TNA Lockdown will be released nationally on DVD on 8/8.

Alex Marvez interviews Terry Taylor in his latest syndicated column. Taylor noted that he cringes every time someone says TNA is competing with WWE for an audience because there are more than enough fans for everyone. He also noted that he's still asked about the Red Rooster gimmick today.

TNA will be doing a conference call with Rhino next week to promote the 8/13 Hard Justice PPV.

I had the chance to check out the TNA Hardcore War DVD this week and it does a good job of capturing what really was one of the best TNA events in the company's history, their debut in Philadelphia, PA. The show features a great AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe vs. Christopher Daniels match, Team 3D back in the Arena that made them famous, the first-ever Brother Runt vs. Abyss match, one hell of a Jay Lethal vs. Sonjay Dutt match and more. You can find out more information on the DVD at http://www.highspots.com/product.asp?id=14919. You can do a package deal with the TNA New Jersey debut, which was highlighted by a Monster's Ball bout with Samoa Joe vs. Abyss vs. Rhino as well.

Jim Cornette will miss the Hard Justice PPV as he's booked for the Capitol Legends Fanfest in Washington, DC. The updated lineup for that event, at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida, features:

Jeff Jarrett (with Scott Steiner) versus Sting (with Christian Cage) for the NWA World Heavyweight Title

Senshi versus Petey Williams for the X Division Title

A.J. Styles and Christopher Daniels versus Latin American Exchange (Homicide and Hernandez [with Konnan]) for the NWA World Tag Team Titles

Kevin Nash versus Chris Sabin in a Number One Contenders Match for the X Division Title

The Naturals versus The James Gang versus Frankie Kazarian and Matt Bentley versus America ’s Most Wanted in a Number One Contenders Match for the NWA World Tag Team Titles

Monty Brown versus Samoa Joe versus Rhino in a Falls Count Anywhere Match

Abyss versus Brother Runt

Gail Kim versus Sirelda

TNA was thrilled with the first day sales of their 10/22 Bound for Glory PPV in Plymouth, Michigan. According to one source, the company moved over to 1,000 tickets. Over 300 fans turned out for a signing with Rhino, Alex Shelley, A1, Scott D’Amore and Sirelda at the Compuware Sports Arena. They are obviously off to a good start for their first major PPV outside of Nashville and Orlando.

TNA announced that Traci Brooks would be heading to Iraq as part of a special goodwill promotional tour from 8/27-9/3.

Officially added to this Sunday's Hard Justice PPV in Orlando, Florida at Universal Studios is America's Most Wanted vs. The James Gang vs. The Naturals vs. Matt Bentley & Frankie Kazarian with the winners getting a future NWA Tag Team title shot, Gail Kim vs. Sirelda, and X-Division champion Senshi vs. Petey Williams.

There should some introductory vignettes for Austin Starr (the returning Austin Aries) starting shortly

Citat:
A new member is expected be added to the Latin American Exchange. Puerto Rican wrestler Ricky Banderas is expected to join LAX.

Banderas was the original choice for the group, not Hernandez. However, due to politics in Puerto Rico involving Dutch Mantel (who was aligned in a war with WWC), and Banderas being under contract to IWA, that kept him from joining the group a few months ago.

Problems between TNA management and Senshi seemed to have soothed over in the past two weeks. He hasn't signed a new contract with TNA, but he seems receptive to it. Should Senshi sign a new contract with TNA, that would leave Monty Brown as the only major star whose contract is coming up shortly.

Do not be surprised if you see Jake “The Snake” Roberts in an on-air role at an upcoming TNA iMPACT! taping very soon. We reported several weeks ago here at TNANews.com that Roberts recently pitched an idea involving him and Canadian wrestler Sinn for an on-air role to TNA creative team members.

While TNA management remains leery about using Roberts due to his reputation for no-showing events and past problems with drug abuse, they do like his marketability as well as his strong mic skills. Perhaps the reason that Roberts included Sinn in his plan is because that is who provides him with transportation to shows.

Ja..TNA får inte låta Senshi gå han är en av de bästa i TNA men jag förstår att han är missnöjd. De har använt honom ungefär lika mycket som WWE använder sina Cruiserweights.

Prior to Jeff Hardy resigning with WWE, TNA had considered bringing him back.

The Pro Wrestling Torch is reporting that TNA's current employment philosophy is now shifting towards signing wrestlers to long-term contracts with a set weekly pay as opposed to bringing in wrestlers for TV on a short-term pay-per-appearance deal with a typical 10 guaranteed dates. The new standard long-term TNA contract is a three year deal with one year guaranteed and TNA having the option to pick up the last two years.

TNA continues to handle independent bookings for their wrestlers and the more bookings TNA wrestlers take, the more they will receive as a bonus at the end of each quarter.

TNAWrestlingNews.com can confirm that Jason Rumble, Lex Lovett, Cassidy Riley (worked PPV match) and Joey Ryan were all at Hard Justice.

Juventud Guerrera recently gave TNA a call and is trying to get in. Right now it doesn't look like that will be happening.

Kevin Nash was scheduled to job to Chris Sabin last night at TNA's Hard Justice PPV.

TNA is under the impression that his neck injury is legit, thus the reason the match was changed to Alex Shelley vs. Chris Sabin last night. You have to wonder, however, with this guy's track record.

Nash had health problems before he had to job to Jeff Jarrett and The Big Show in the past.

TNA has officially signed So Cal Val to a deal. She has been working at ringside during TNA shows for a while now at Orlando, and will be featured on the upcoming TNA Knockouts DVD.

TNA is asking talent that have dates remaining on their contracts, and the company has no plans to use on PPV or TV, to make promotional appearances.

Despite what you read on the internet, WWE has interest in Monty Brown, but are precluded to enter into negotiations due to Brown's contractual status with TNA.

Brown wasn’t informed if TNA would roll over his deal, which caused friction between Brown and TNA. TNA is said to not be pleased Brown is being represented by an agent.

Brown asked for his release with Ron Killings at the iMPACT! taping on Monday.

There is talk of an international TNA house show later this year.

AAA has plans for a TNA vs. AAA show at El Toreo in Naucalpan. They have talked about a Traci Brooks and Christy Hemme vs. Tiffany and Estrellita match, plus bookings for Ron Killings, Abyss, AJ Styles, Jeff Jarrett and Samoa Joe. Antonio Pena is also trying to get Scott Steiner, who turned down the promotion last time they contacted him.

On the 8/25 Zero-One Max show at Korakuen Hall, Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin challenge Ikuto Hidaka and Minoru Fujita for the NWA International Light Heavyweight tag team titles.

TNA's website has added a short video clip previewing the upcoming "Best of the X Divison - Vol. 2" DVD that will be released this October. There is also a listing of matches scheduled to be on the DVD as well all at this link
Don't look for Jimmy Hart to make TNA promotional appearances at Universal Studios in the future.

TNA has wanted Hart to sign a contract, but Hart has decided against it.

Austin Aries suffered bruised ribs on 8/12, not broken ribs as widely reported on the internet.

The 8/31 edition of TNA iMPACT! drew a final 0.8 cable rating with a 1.7 share. That is the same rating the show drew last week. For those wondering, The Ultimate Fighter that aired before TNA drew a 1.4 cable rating with a 2.3 share.

The section for the upcoming "Sting: Return of an Icon" TNA DVD can be found at TNAWrestling.com featuring clips from the DVD that will be out on October 10.

TNA has also added a video clip previewing the upcoming Slammiversary DVD that will feature exclusive behind the scenes footage with Jeff Jarrett, Sting, Ron "The Truth" Killings and more at TNAWrestling.com.
